NET THEORY TO ME

I believe…

… that the internet as an art tool should be recognized as a formal art

… that it shouldn’t be about looks but content

… net art can be multiple sites and pages to create one piece

… decriminalize file sharing and downloading

… free wifi internet everywhere

… net art can be anything

… make better bandwith to make our lives better

… bring back the old dial up sound we all loved

… more creepy internet art

… if its on the internet it should be free for anyone to manipulate

… if it wasn’t for porn on the internet we wouldn’t have funding for such great websites like google and youtube

… everything is terrable is a work of pure magic

… macs need to cost less

… the internet is nothing but anti-commercial college students and nerds who rudely drive away those who don’t follow their philosophy. right?

… the aim is to explore the specificity of the Internet medium in two fields, namely Internet (web) art and Internet textuality (in particular, the literarily coded one).

… and so on and so forth ect. …

Peter Halley’s Exploding Cell finished in 1997 the website wasn’t in the book. it is interesting to see where internet art started at and where it has been growing towards

most internet art isnt focused on imagery and beauty of the page but on the content of the work

how using the plethora of information on the web to create a database that is a work of art

travel based works of art broke new ground because of the massive various equipment used the time pre-wireless

to understand the works as a whole required considering each element in juxtaposition with every other element

Where is net art going?

How has the begining of net art help evolve it to what it is today?

Is net art confined to a computer? can it be mobile?

How far can we push this new field?

i suppose i should start putting down what im thinking on here since thats what we are suppose to do!  i think for my first project i want to do an html page of a compilitation of gifs and some clipart most likely. think i will hide some links that link to other pages or back to the home pages in the html page.  humm…… just some thoughts that need defining.

what the hell is net art

after reading the couple articles and looking at some of the more famous net.art pieces i have come to the conclusion of what the hell is net art.  its still a bit fuzzy but i think i have decided that net art is anything that you can do with an idea and a web hosting site.  be it simple Giff’s or complex videos and webs and webs of pages and pages that make you dwell deeper and deeper into the void of the null that is the internet. there is a light at the end of the tunnle showing the underlying meaning of the art to make you see the overall picture. i will continue my digging into the world of net.art and figure this out
